Basketball Rules (2025-2026)
BOYS BASKETBALL RULES
High School Rules (FHSAA) will be followed with the additions listed below:
“A”, “B” GAMES (BOYS JV) & “C” (6th Grade)
Game Duration will be 6 minute quarters with a stop clock.
Press Rules:

“A‘/Varsity - Can press the entire game.

“B”/JV and “C” teams will use the fall back rule will be in effect (No back court press) until the last two minutes of each half at which time teams may press in the backcourt. Back Court Press will only be permitted during the LAST TWO MINUTES of each half. If a game goes to OT you can press for the entire OT.
***THE 6TH GRADE USES THE WOMEN’S BALL.
Each team is allowed three (3) one - minute time-outs per game and two (2) thirty (30)
second timeouts per game.
Free throws (1 and 1) are awarded after six (6) team fouls per half.
Each player accumulating five (5) fouls is ejected from the game
Home team will decide which game will be played first (A or B)
Overtime Rule: After regulation time is completed, play a three (3) minute overtime, until a winner is determined. PRESSING WILL BE ALLOWED DURING THE ENTIRE OVERTIME.
LEAGUE RULES FOR A “TIE BREAKER”
We will incorporate the following procedures to determine who participates in any League
Championship series (Final 4) if a “tie” exists at the end of the season:
Two-Schools Tied: these procedures will follow in order until the tie is broken:
1- Won-loss results of head to head competition between two schools
2- Won-loss record of the tied schools versus the highest seeded school(proceeding to
the lowest seed if necessary) in league contests.
3- Road wins (Do to gym issue each year St. Jude will have games designated as home and away games.)( This will also be done for Henderson vs certain opponents)
4 - Home wins (Do to gym issue each year St. Jude will have games designated as home and away games.)( This will also be done for Henderson vs certain opponents)
5 - Coin Toss
Three or more schools tied: these procedures will be followed in order until the tie is broken: (Once Three way tie is broken we will revert back to 2 team tie breaker)
1- Total won-loss record of contests played among the tied schools
2- Won-loss record of the tied schools versus the highest seeded school(proceeding to
the lowest seed if necessary) in league contests.
3- Road wins (Do to gym issue each year St. Jude will have games designated as home and away games.)( This will also be done for Henderson vs certain opponents)
4 - Home wins (Do to gym issue each year St. Jude will have games designated as home and away games.)( This will also be done for Henderson vs certain opponents)
5- Draw to eliminate one school.
MIDDLE SCHOOL/HIGH SCHOOL ELIGIBILITY(FHSAA)
OBSERVE THE 24 HOUR WAITING PERIOD BEFORE THEY MAY RETURN TO PARTICIPATE AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL. A PLAYER MUST PLAY IN 50% OF MIDDLE SCHOOL LEAGUE GAMES TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR POST SEASON PLAY (in the case of an uneven number of games we would round up. Ex: 5 games ,must play in 3). A PLAYER IS LIMITED TO PLAYING IN A TOTAL OF THREE GAMES A WEEK. THIS IS TO PREVENT A SCHOOL PLAYING IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WITH A DIFFERENT TEAM THAN THAT OF WHICH THEY HAD DURING THE SEASON
